How to convert a PNG image to JPG?
To convert a PNG file to the JPG format, follow these simple steps:
- Upload the PNG image - Drop or select the file you want to convert. You can also paste an image from the clipboard with CTRL+V.

Why did my transparent background turn white (or black)?Because JPG has no transparency at all. Every transparent pixel has to become some solid color, and this tool uses the background color you choose, white by default. Tools that appear to turn transparency black are simply defaulting to black instead. If you need the transparent background, do not use JPG: convert to WebP, or keep the PNG.
Which quality should I choose?It depends on what is in the image. Photographs tolerate JPEG compression well, so 75 to 85 is usually invisible and saves a lot. Screenshots, charts, logos and anything with text need 90 or above, because JPEG artifacts show up clearly against flat backgrounds and around crisp edges. Since the preview shows the actual compressed result, the reliable method is to lower the slider until you notice the damage and then go back up a little.
Does converting to JPG reduce the quality?Yes, that is the point of the format. JPEG discards information to make the file small, and the loss is permanent. Keep the original PNG if you plan to edit the image later, and treat the JPG as the copy you share or publish.
How much smaller will the file be?For a photograph, usually between 80% and 95% smaller. For a screenshot or a simple graphic the saving is much less impressive, and with a very high quality the JPG can even end up larger than the PNG, since PNG compresses flat areas of color extremely well. Can I convert a JPG back to PNG afterwards?You can, with the Convert JPG to PNG tool, but it will not restore the lost detail. Once JPEG has discarded information, no conversion brings it back.
