To convert a .webp file to the JPG format, follow these simple steps:
- Upload the WebP image - Drop or select the .webp file you want to convert. You can also paste an image from the clipboard with CTRL+V.
- Choose the quality - Move the quality slider and watch the file size change. The canvas always shows the real JPEG, so you can see exactly what the compression does to the image.
- Choose the background color - JPG cannot store transparency, so any transparent area of the WebP image is filled with this color. White is the usual choice.

Which quality should I choose?Higher than you would for a conversion from a lossless source. The WebP file you are uploading has already been compressed once, and JPEG compression is applied on top of it, so the artifacts add up. A quality of 90 to 95 keeps the result visually identical to the WebP. Below 70 the difference usually becomes obvious, especially around text and sharp edges.
What happens to the transparent parts of my image?They are filled with the background color you choose, white by default. JPEG has no alpha channel, so there is no way to keep them transparent. If transparency matters, convert to PNG instead.
Will the JPG be smaller than the WebP?Usually not. WebP compresses better than JPEG, so at the same visual quality the JPG tends to be somewhat larger. You convert to JPG for compatibility, not to save space. If you want the smallest possible file, keep the WebP.
Is the difference between .jpg and .jpeg important?No, they are the same format. The three-letter extension exists because early versions of Windows only allowed three characters. This tool saves the file as .jpg.
Can I convert an animated WebP?Only the first frame. JPEG cannot store an animation, so an animated .webp becomes a single still image.
